Margaret & Taylor

Margaret and Taylor kept their lake wedding small.  It was an intimate day, including only those closest to them.  So it was even more of an honor to be there to photograph it.  Margaret started off the day at Hopson James Salon in Homewood and the rest of the day happened at her family’s lake house on Smith Lake.  The bridesmaids were exactly what I think they should be- mostly long-time friends, who know Margaret’s life and have lived it with her.  And boy were they fun!  I had to be careful not to just sit around and chat with them since most of them are fellow Homewood gals!  Margaret’s mom was doting, her dad was emotional, her brothers were proud, and her groom was quietly excited.  Taylor and Margaret fell in love when they were 16-years-old.  They’ve had their ups and downs, but now run a successful business, The Chef Next Door, together.  They know they love each other and they know they work.  Now it’s official.  If only every dad (somewhat) calmly played angry birds as his daughter prepared to be married off.  I love Margaret’s old, new, borrowed and blue items.  Andy Hopper with Kathy G & Company did an amazing job on all the flowers (and Mary with the food, too.)  These are some of my favorites I’ve photographed.  Dad got a little emotional seeing his baby girl as a bride.  Isn’t the difference in the prep part of the day so stark for girls and boys? For their first look, Margaret wore the perfume she wore in high school.  As he saw her, Taylor said, “You smell like the girl I fell in love with.”Go ahead and get used to these faces.  I get to shoot Allison and Adam’s wedding in December!  (couple on the right)While we waited for the guests to arrive and the ceremony to start, the bridesmaids whipped out their sixth grade photo books.  Since the wedding was so small, Margaret’s mom didn’t get to invite some of the friends she really wanted to.  So Margaret surprised her and had a few come!  Look how happy Jennie is!The details that Margaret and Andy came up with were just stunning.  Loved them all.  Taylor and his now father-in-law bonded over a love for scotch at some point.  So a scotch bar was perfectly fitting! Margaret’s grandmother couldn’t be there for the big day, and called right at this moment.  The newly weds and their wedding party stayed at the lake house and sent the guests and family away on a bus.  Isn’t this reverse send-off fun?  And as I left, the couples were all swaying on the dance floor.
