Lori & Chris

My friend from church, Lori, has been glowing for around 11 months.  It’s because she met Chris.  Chris is as calm and reserved as Lori is boisterous and extroverted.  They are a perfect match.  It was really fun to see her all lit up on her wedding day, surrounded by their kids (3 each) and loved ones.  My favorite part of the day is that Lori made her own dress.  It was so unique and so Lori.  When she described it to me a few months ago, I wasn’t quite sure, but when I saw it, I was amazed.  She did have a little help from a friend on the embroidery. There was a little black dot hidden under one of the roses to honor a beloved Downton Abbey character who met with their end this season.  I won’t say who, as I know a few of my regular readers haven’t watched yet!Of course, I always love shooting at my beloved Altadena Valley Presbyterian Church. Lori’s daughter, Sarah Grace, will now be the only girl in a sea of 5 brothers.  Can you see her excitement in the pic on the right?Our Minister of Music, Steve, performed the ceremony.  It was so special because he and Lori are so close.  He preached on Isaiah 62.  It’s all about how God rejoices over his bride and how much honor it shows that he is giving her a new name…his name.  These verses have been something Lori has clung to during hard times and it was quite emotional.

“The nations will see your vindication,
and all kings your glory;
you will be called by a new name
that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.
You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
No longer will they call you Deserted,
or name your land Desolate.
But you will be called Hephzibah,[a]
and your land Beulah[b];
for the Lord will take delight in you,
and your land will be married.
As a young man marries a young woman,
so will your Builder marry you;
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride,
so will your God rejoice over you.”

The really sweet reception in the fellowship hall was simple and elegant, with the most amazing smelling cakes from Klingler’s BakeryChris has called Lori his “duck” since the beginning.  Cute, huh?I know these two will have a life full of laughter.  What a privilege to be there for the start of it.
