Not the singer, LADY Gaga, but a much classier Lady named GaGa, who bore the name long before we heard “Just Dance…”
A longtime friend of our family asked me recently to photograph a service honoring her mother, Gaga, as she fights pancreatic cancer. Sweet Gaga lost her husband just a few weeks ago and is now bearing, gracefully, the agonizing treatments to battle this disease. Her daughter planned a surprise gathering of all their close friends and family to encourage and pray for this woman who has played a role in each of their lives. It was touching and sad and sweet and hopeful.
The color for pancreatic cancer is purple, so they had purple balloons, purple “Pray for Gaga” bracelets and book marks to remind you to pray. Everyone wore purple. The worship leaders from Shades Mountain Baptist, Gaga’s church, came and led several hymns and songs in the front yard. I was truly touched to have been a part of this event. At the end, we all released the purple balloons to float to the heavens with our prayers. I hope you’ll join me in Praying for GaGa.
