I’ve been away from home for the last month. I haven’t traveled extensively, but I have been a few places. I once took an AMAZING trip to Europe with my sister, Hagen. I have gone to Jamaica and San Francisco with my husband. I went to Cancun with some friends and to New York a couple of times- one particularly awesome time with my whole family. I would like to go more places and all of those again before I’m done with travel around age 100. But given the choice, I would rather be at Centerhill Lake in Tennessee than anywhere in the world. It’s not fancy or even always easy (bugs and dirt and a steep hill to the lake) but I’ve figured out on this blissful vacation why I love it so much. It is the only place in the world where I am actually able to relax. I allow myself to just sit and listen to the water hit the rocky shore. I am not completely annoyed that I’m hot or smelly or that there’s a wasp nest nearyby. I don’t often know what it means to rest, but here I do. I love it. And with just a few days before my return to hectic routines, I wanted to share a glimpse of my heaven with you.
These are taken from the road around our house after a nice gullywasher.
This is the view from our porch and the road leading away from our house.
The road is lined with daylillies and Queen Anne’s Lace.
I forgot to mention that my mom was with us the whole time- adding to the heavenly feel.
We dined al fresco and threw rocks on the hill up.
We had friends come visit…
And ate popsicles.
I didn’t really take pictures when the flurry of activity that is my WHOLE family began, but it was wonderful and I can’t wait to do it all again next year!
