Amber and Mike’s wedding was a whole big family affair. Everyone in the family cried happy tears the whole day. And Amber was the picture of grace in the midst of so much activity. Each thoughtful detail was part of the emotion and I loved it. Amber wore the dress her grandmother, mother and aunt all wore. Her groom, Mike, gave her a diamond from his grandmothers engagement ring as a wedding gift. His mother made his grandmother’s chocolate cake recipe as his groom’s cake. His father, also a preacher, cried the whole ceremony long. Mike wiped Amber’s happy tears during the ceremony. They left in a taxi cab, since they live in DC and that’s how they do!
During the homily, the preacher said, “Amber and Mike, right now you think the other is perfect… on this blissful wedding day. But eventually you’ll see things in each other that need changing. I’ve learned to let God do the changing and I do the loving. If I live in God’s love, it all seems to work out.”
