I love weddings, which you already knew, but one of my favorite wedding details are the florals. Wedding flowers aren’t just pretty, they set the mood and tie everything together. As a Birmingham wedding photographer, I’ve photographed many weddings and seen some truly impressive and gorgeous flower displays and arrangements. Below are just a few wedding flowers that I’ve loved recently that I wanted to highlight to show how florals elevate your wedding.
The right flowers can set a vibe, whether it is soft and romantic, vibrant and whimsical, or organic and boho. Flowers create an atmosphere and tell a story. They can also reflect your personality, your style as a couple, and of course, your wedding vision.
There are so many talented florists out there and I’ve had the honor of working with many. Their jaw-dropping installations and bouquet arrangements create a design impact, adding texture, color, and life to wedding days.
Wedding Flowers I’ve Loved
Vibrant and Whimsical Flowers by Marigold Designs
Marigold Designs created this amazing, whimsical purple-toned floral style that felt like something out of a dream. This enchanting dream wedding took place at The Club in Birmingham, which was completely transformed by florals in a dreamy color palette of white, cream, lavender, pops of pinks and orange, and sage green to balance it all.
Purple flowers lined the curtains framing the entrance to the reception. Flower arrangements that mixed soft hues and a pop of bright color, with abundant greenery decorated the reception tables. The cake table was a centerpiece in itself, surrounded by even more breathtaking florals. Then there was the cocktail wall, which was one of the most stunning details of the night. A white display framed with lavender flowers and held specialty cocktails garnished with a sprig of lavender. The entire floral design was fairytale-like. The incredible planning and design by King Events helped bring this wedding to life.
Elegant & Timeless Florals by Stems & Styles
Suzanne at Stems & Styles is the absolute best. We’ve worked together on weddings and even the big annual Service Guild Gala of Birmingham, which is a cause near and dear to my heart. For weddings, she always nails the design. I’ve watched her in action and seeing her bring florals to life is amazing. On top of her talent, she is warm, funny and genuine. She and I are both raising kids in the same neighborhood and it’s so nice having another person in the wedding industry nearby. I adore her and her creative eye for design.
For this particular wedding below, she worked with wedding planner, AMR Bridal, to create an elegant and timeless wedding design that included flowers in various shades of dark and light purple and balanced with white. My favorite was the stunning cross at the altar that was covered in white and varied purple-hued flowers, from light lilac to deep purple, and balanced out with greenery. It was a stunning show-stopping display that also added meaning to their ceremony. Between the beautiful bouquets, flower centerpieces at the reception, and the gorgeous flower cross, Stems & Styles truly outdid themselves! See more from this spring wedding here!
Other Florals I’ve loved
These two very different floral designs are each beautiful in their own way and are a perfect example of how florals set the tone for your wedding day and tie the wedding design together. The first set of florals are soft, romantic, and classic with lots of white, subtle pops of light pink and blue, and ample greenery.
This other flower design was created by Hannah Loporchio Morley of Porchflowers for a boho wedding captured by Brittany Sturdivant. The arrangement was wildly beautiful with delicate Queen Anne’s Lace paired with deconstructed sunflowers. The organic florals create a completely different vibe and aesthetic by using deeper hues of dark red, balanced with pops of white and darker greenery. The use of textured flowers add depth and visual interest.
