My dear friend Catie and her family have a high calling. We all do actually. But this family is answering the call to “love the least of these” by living out Isaiah 58: 7-9
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen…
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.”
Most recently Catie has undertaken to shower a new mom with love and gifts. This young, single girl hasn’t known love in her life. In giving her the things she needs to give this baby growing inside of her a different chance in life, we are able to show her the love that God has shown us. He didn’t show us once we had gotten it all right and had our lives together, he showed it to us while we were still sinners. I am moved by that and by our chance to share what has been shared with us. So……
