From our very first phone call, I knew Killette was intentional. She thoughtfully considered what both she AND her groom, Chris, wanted in every part of their wedding day. Sometimes she knew Chris felt more strongly about certain moments and details and happily deferred to him. Other times, she trusted and leaned on my expertise. That combination of thoughtfulness, trust, and a genuinely laid-back attitude made for such a wonderful celebration. The result was a classic Birmingham winter wedding that felt perfectly them. It was beautiful, joyful, meaningful, and completely focused on what mattered most, which was celebrating their marriage surrounded by the people they love.
Some of my favorite moments were the quiet, in-between moments. Watching Killette get ready with her sisters and mother was so sweet. Killette looked stunning in her fitted strapless gown featuring intricate lace detailing. Then there was the first look between Chris and Killette. Chris’s emotional reaction to seeing his bride was so tender and genuine.
Classic Birmingham Winter Wedding at The Fennec
After the ceremony, everyone headed to The Fennec for a reception that was every bit as fun as it was beautiful. The team there worked tirelessly to make sure every detail reflected Killette and Chris’s vision. (Also, as a wedding photographer who spends a lot of weekends at wedding receptions, I can confidently say it was some of my favorite wedding food, too!)
Of course, there were plenty of stunning details as well. Killette asked the talented team at Laurel & Sage to draw inspiration from the stained-glass windows in their church, and the result was absolutely jaw-dropping. The warm candlelight and stringed lights decorating the ceiling created such an inviting atmosphere.
Then, once the band started playing, the dance floor stayed packed all night long. Friends and family celebrated the newlyweds and the energy remained high through the entire evening. It was the perfect ending to an already incredible day.
One person who deserves special recognition is Jessica with Three Fold Events. She tied it all together, kept everything on schedule and as planned, which made for a seamless wedding day. She was supportive and helpful at every turn, making sure everyone could simply enjoy the day. I can’t wait to work with her again next year!
Killette and Chris, thank you for trusting me to capture such a beautiful beginning to your marriage. It was an absolute joy to celebrate alongside you.
